With few exceptions, WMC has two-bedded, “semi-private” rooms. General visiting hours at Westchester Medical Center have been established to ensure that all our patients have adequate time designated for rest and recovery. Exceptions to these hours or additional restrictions may occur depending on a patient's condition and location.
In general, visiting hours at Westchester Medical Center are between the hours of 11 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Up to two people may visit a patient at one time.
Children are welcome visitors, but must be accompanied by an adult at all times and should never be left unattended.
Specialized units, such as intensive care, pediatrics and labor and delivery may set different hours and visitor limitations, as determined by patient condition. Please check in at the Information Desk located in the main lobby before going to a patient's room.

Ensuring Patients’ Rights…
It is the policy of Westchester Medical Center to ensure a patient’s right to designate a support person to be present with the patient during the course of stay. The individual may or may not be the patient’s surrogate decision-maker or legally authorized representative. We invite patients to inform the Nurse Manager on the patient care Unit, who that designated person is.
The hospital prohibits discrimination based on age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, language,physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression.
At any time during their stay, patients may request limitations be put on visits and calls.

There are many ways families and friends may provide love and support for hospitalized loved ones:

for the bedside telephone number. Please note: Some patients with mobile phones do not choose to have a bedside phone activated. Those that activate bedside phones may not choose to answer calls while having treatments or if they are resting.
Online Greeting Cards: Please
to learn more about sending a greeting card. You may type and submit a message that will be printed on a lovely greeting card and hand delivered by one of our dedicated staff or volunteers.
As a world-class, regional, Level 1 Trauma Center, WMC often provides extraordinary care in extraordinary circumstances. The needs of our patients for care, rest and emotional support may be greater than in other acute care hospitals you have visited. At any time during their stay, patients may request limitations be put on visits and calls.
There will be times your loved one and their “roommate” receive private tests and treatments, discuss their Plan of Care with physicians, nurses and other team members, receive spiritual /emotional counsel and culturally sensitive care. Unless patients direct WMC differently, members of the health care team may ask families and visitors to step outside the room while they are meeting with your loved one or their roommate.

Health and safety is a priority for all at WMC. We are diligent in avoiding the spread of infection and preventing falls. Here are some ways you can help us:
We encourage you and children you may have with you, to join our healthcare team members and use wall dispensers of hand sanitizers each time you come in and go out of a loved one’s room.
If you are sick or have symptoms of flu, we request that you postpone your visit.
Hospital rooms must accommodate medical equipment that may need to be moved quickly. We ask you not to place objects on the floors that visitors, patients and team members might trip over.
If your loved one has been instructed to stay in bed, please don’t attempt to help them get up. Use the call bell for professional assistance.
